A Message from the GM

Dear Co-op Owner-Members,

I’m writing to share some personal news with you.

After 27 years with the Viroqua Food Co-op, I have chosen to retire in October of 2026.

This was not an easy decision! Being part of this co-op, growing it alongside staff, the Board, and all of you, has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I feel incredibly fortunate to have spent so many years in an organization that values cooperative principles, local connection, and shared purpose. Thank you for the trust, support, and engagement you’ve shown me over the years.

I shared this news with the Board of Directors some time ago, and they are leading a thoughtful and thorough process to select our next General Manager, drawing on experienced guidance, while keeping a strong focus on leadership and the co-op’s long-term health. In the months ahead, I remain fully committed to my role and to supporting this important transition.

We’ll share more as the process unfolds. For now, I simply want to say how grateful I am to be part of this co-op and this community.
