“Would you like to round up?” Most likely, you have been asked this question by one of our wonderful cashiers in the last month. We want to take a moment to fill you in about our new Round-Up Program!
As you may know, we have had a vibrant 1% Wednesday Donations Program for many years, where VFC owners select and donate money to local non-profit organizations throughout the year. Learn more here.
About a month ago, we added a new element to our donation program. All shoppers can now round up to the nearest dollar each time they check out for the non-profit of the month. A typical monthly donation check prior to the initiation of our Round-Up Program was about $400. We started in mid-August, which was Valley Stewardship Network’s donation month. Check out the totals for August:
- 1% of VFC’s August 9th sales: $208.67
- Donation bins at registers: $233.96
- Round Up at the registers: $333.93
Total: $776.56 Donation to Valley Stewardship Network. Wow!
Thus far, customer response to our Round-Up Program has been outstanding. When everyone participates and donates 31 cents here and 89 cents there, it adds up and makes a big difference! Thank you for your generosity, VFC owners and shoppers. We are excited to see the potential of our new Round-Up Program - VFC shoppers have raised over $1,000 for Viroqua Farm-to-School in the first three weeks of September!
With the addition of the Round-Up Program, we are excited to announce that our 1% Wednesday Donations Program is now called Give Where You Live! We feel that this name really embodies how our owners participate in picking local non-profits and donating to them when they shop. Next time you shop at VFC, be sure to round up at the registers to Give Where You Live!
