Have you noticed? Warmer weather is officially here. That means it’s time to start bicycling and eating fresh local food! On June 29, you can do both, while learning about local farms that supply produce to the Viroqua Food Co-op and CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), by riding in the 2nd Annual Bike the Barns Driftless!
Bike the Barns Driftless is a recreational bicycle tour featuring FairShare CSA Coalition farms and local food in the Driftless region on Sunday, June 29. Bike the Barns Driftless riders travel a 53 mile scenic route that starts and ends in Viroqua, Wisconsin, which makes stops at visits Ridgeland Harvest and Driftless Organics, both of which supply delicious organic produce to the Viroqua Food Co-op. The ride is fueled by gourmet food grown by local farmers and prepared by Rooted Spoon Culinary, including breakfast snacks, lunch, dinner and post-ride refreshments.
This year, riders are invited to sign-up to collect pledges to raise funds that benefit FairShare’s overall work and their Partner Shares Program, which helps limited-income families purchase local, organic vegetables and have a direct connection with their food and farm through community supported agriculture. When you participate in Bike the Barns Driftless, you not only enjoy a day biking to local farms and eating artisan delicacies, but you also support our community’s health—the health of our neighbors, our land, our farmers and our local economies.
Volunteering! Not up for riding your bike 53 miles but want to help? We need volunteers the day of the ride! Please contact Erika Jones via email email@example.com or call (608) 226-0300 to learn about volunteer opportunities.
