October is Cooperative Month! In celebration, our Give Where You Live recipient for the month is Viroqua Food Co+op’s Cooperative Community Fund (CCF). Next time you check out, be sure to round up for the VFC's CCF. Each time you give, it is matched through the generous support of Frontier Co-op, National Cooperative Bank, Organic Valley and VFC up to $6,000!

VFC’s Cooperative Community Fund is an endowment (somewhat similar to a scholarship fund) that is administered through Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation (TPCF) (501c3), which make donations to the our CCF tax deductible. As we put more money in this fund, we accrue more interest. We use the interest gained each year to give grants to organizations and projects that match our mission of local and organic food and agriculture. How great!

We aim to offer our first grants through our

Cooperative Community Fund within the next calendar year!

The VFC Cooperative Community Fund endowment is pooled by Twin Pines Cooperative Foundation with over 40 other food co-op CCF’s. TPCF invests in co-op business development through co-op development organizations. During the past two years, TPCF has invested in the following cooperative development organizations: Shared Capital Cooperative, ICA LEAF Fund, New Hampshire Community Loan Fund and Organic Valley. These groups have in turn lent these funds to over 30 US food co-ops. The hard working TPCF/CCF funds leverage over $40 million for the development and growth of fellow food co-ops.
