Posted by Bjorn Bergman on Aug 17, 2017 3:02:58 PM

Last night we hosted a very successful #wecantwait VFC Expansion Open House at the Rooted Spoon Kitchen Table from 5-8pm with about 40 VFC owners and community members attending. The event was an opportunity for attendees to learn about our expansion through our wonderful staff. Staff members from our marketing, customer service, grocery, produce, deli and staff services department gave presentations at 5:30 and 7:00pm that guided attendees through our expansion floor plans and outlined what to expect and what they are excited for. Here are some highlights from their presentations:

Viroqua Food Co+op Owners Gather for Coffee with the Board

Posted by Bjorn Bergman on Jul 13, 2017 6:30:00 AM

This past Saturday, July 8, VFC hosted a "Coffee with the Board" event in our seating area. Five Board Members (Mike Link, Eric Newman, Eric Snowdeal, Larry Homstad and Peter Bergquist) were in attendance to answer questions and receive owner feedback about the VFC Expansion project and Capital Campaign.

We were impressed and excited by the turnout at the event. VFC Owners were excited to share their feedback on our Expansion. Owners asked a variety of questions about the expansion, including questions on what services the expansion includes, the impact that the expansion will have on the community, how New Markets Tax Credits fit into the financing, and many more. Many VFC Owners were eager for the expansion to begin and curious to see the most recent expansion floor plans.

Investments are rolling in for our Capital Campaign! In fact, a few owners stopped by the Coffee with the Board event with investment paperwork. We now have $220,825 in Class C Stock Investments. If you haven’t invested yet, we want you to invest in the Co-op! Investing in the Co-op now is a great way to grow your money while supporting the future growth of your Co-op and community. Learn more about investing here or visit the VFC and pick up an investment packet at Owner Services. We aim to have $1,000,000 in owner investments by August 15, so invest now while you still can.

Expansion Site Preparation Begins!

Posted by Bjorn Bergman on Jun 30, 2017 11:11:00 AM

Happy summer! We anticipate site preparation for our expansion to begin any day. It’s satisfying to have the past four years of gathering VFC owner feedback and planning for expansion turn the corner and have construction begin. In advance, we want to thank our owners and customers for gracefully putting up with any disruptions they experience while shopping at the Co-op in the next year. We know the end result, a larger Co-op that meets more of your needs, will be worth it!

On Thursday, Weiser Brothers, our general contractor for our expansion, dropped off the first load of equipment at the store. Weiser Brothers, which is based out of La Crescent, MN, led the original construction of our building at 609 N. Main Street in 2004-2005. We are ecstatic to work with them once again for this project.
