    Rotten: Join us for a screening of two episodes of the documentary film series Rotten. This series travels deep into the heart of the food supply chain to reveal unsavory truths and expose hidden forces that shape what we eat.

  • Herbal Soups & Broths  Wednesday, March 6, 6-7:30pm  Co-op Community Room with
    Instructor Jess Krueger ($20 VFC Owners/$25 Non-owners; register @ Customer Service)
    In true kitchen herbal style, we will create a delicious, immune supportive soup using seasonal veggies, herbs and bone broth. Learn the benefits of homemade broths and herbal based soups and participate in a hands-on demo and sampling of the soup.

  • Vegetable Fermentation  Tuesday, March 12, 6-8:30pm  Co-op Community Room with
    Instructor Laura Poe ($20 VFC Owners/$25 Non-owners; register @ Customer Service)
    Incorporating more fermented foods into our diets can help with digestive ailments, improved immune function and more. In this class, we will learn about the nutritional benefits of fermented vegetables and Laura will demonstrate three basic techniques for fermenting vegetables: sauerkraut, kim chi and brined vegetables. Participants will get to try several fermented vegetables and will take home the recipes and a grocery list for making these foods at home.

    How We Grow: Join us for a screening of two episodes of the documentary film How We Grow, which looks at the characters and systems of farming, education, legislation, micro-finance, and food equity that are shifting the ways we think about food and our relationship to the land. Together we create a food system that works for everyone. The film offers a template to communities, a guide to grow by, and a sense of hope that we have all the tools to reclaim our food. This is HOW WE GROW.

    In this class, we will explore the different ways to brew dried plants as teas, decoctions and infusions. There will be demonstration and sampling of brewed botanicals.

  • Homemade Condiments  Tuesday, April 9, 6:30-8pm  Co-op Community Room with

    Learn how to make simple sauces and condiments to use in your favorite recipes, including mayonnaise, salad dressing, chimichurri and more. Participants will get to try several sauces and will take home the recipes and a grocery list for making these foods at home.
